Job Description: General Education Teacher (Grades 9-12)
Position Overview: As a General Education Teacher for grades 9-12, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality instruction and fostering the academic, social, and personal growth of high school students. Your responsibilities will include designing and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. By cultivating a culture of inquiry, critical thinking, and collaboration, you will prepare students for success in college, career, and life.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Planning and Instruction:
Develop and implement engaging and standards-aligned lesson plans that promote active learning, critical thinking, and academic rigor.
Use a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and real-world examples to make learning relevant and meaningful for students.
Classroom Management:
Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and a love of learning.
Implement clear expectations and routines to promote student engagement, participation, and success.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, identify learning needs, and adjust instruction accordingly.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their growth and development.
Differentiated Instruction:
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of students in the classroom.
Modify curriculum and provide accommodations and supports for students with special needs or English language learners.
Collaboration and Professional Learning:
Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning community.
Participate in professional development activities and engage in ongoing reflection and growth to improve teaching practices and student outcomes.
Parent and Community Engagement:
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, academic goals, and opportunities for involvement in their child's education.
Build positive relationships with community partners, organizations, and businesses to enhance student learning and opportunities beyond the classroom.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Valid teaching certification/license in the subject area and grade level being taught.
Knowledge of content area standards, curriculum frameworks, and instructional best practices.
Experience working with high school students in an educational setting, including knowledge of adolescent development and learning styles.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
